Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Split Presaged by Troubles

Now, the couple may be winding down in terms of providing fodder for the media and the celebrity-obsessed masses. What started earlier this month with a solo appearance by Lopez at the July 9 BAFTA gala in Los Angeles has turned into a full-blown story.

When Lopez appeared at the L.A. event without Anthony, both that and her daring Emilio Pucci dress were the talk of entertainment reporters. Lopez brought her mom, Guadalupe, to the event, wherein the mother and daughter combo mingled with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Just one week later, Lopez admitted that she and her husband had made a "very difficult decision." That decision, of course, was to end their marriage of seven years. The couple have two children together, 3-year-old twins.

One of the first signs of trouble actually came before the July 9 gala. The couple were seen together at a June 7 charity event, with a majority of the many photographs taken showing Lopez seemingly unhappy. It was the last time the couple were seen together before they announced their breakup. For Lopez, this is her third marriage, and it came on the heals of an 18-month relationship with Ben Affleck. That breakup involved breaking off an engagement, so Lopez is certainly no stranger to high-profile relationships. It remains to be seen where the singer will go from here, but if one had to guess, her next beau is also going to be a celebrity of some sort.
